BHAVA YOGA STUDIO
An Anusara Yoga Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico where the power of intention combines with precise alignment and balanced action of energy flow in the body to create a strong heart, easeful mind and sound body.

ANUSARA YOGA
An inspiring, effective and modern system of hatha yoga founded by John Friend in 1997. Universal Principles of Alignment and energetic Loops provide the map for expressing poses with integrity; heartfelt themes encourage students to step into the grander purpose for the practice and a broad-based Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness informs our approach for teaching and for building community.

BHAVA
pure intention, inspired attitude, heartfelt expression, creating art with our yoga, revealing joy through our practice.
What’s the Bhav? It’s the deepest feeling from your heart, expressed through your yoga poses to create Oneness, Union, and a rockin’ joyful practice! “In Anusara Yoga, our Attitude is what distinguishes us and transforms us. The power of the heart that is the force behind every action or expression in an asana resides within Attitude. It is the heart quality or feeling (bhava) that is the source of the energetic expression of the pose.” John Friend

FUNDAMENTALS OF ANUSARA YOGA
In this class basic and foundational postures from Anusara’s Level 1 Syllabus are introduced. The pace is slower than a level 1 class and the effect more gentle. The Fundamentals class is for any student new to yoga or who has not been physically active.

ANUSARA YOGA LEVEL 1
Poses from Anusara’s Level I syllabus are introduced as are the Universal Principles of Alignment and the 7 Energetic Loops. Moving with integrated action is the focus. Preparation for backbending poses and handbalances are explored. This class is suitable for the student new to Anusara Yoga or the new yoga student who has been physically active.

ANUSARA YOGA LEVEL 2
Students are strongly encouraged to have completed a Level 1 session or have level 2 experience in another tradition. Building upon the foundation of the Level 1 class, this class is about refinement and building integrity in intermediate poses. Anusara’s Level 2 syllabus informs the class. Backbends and handbalances are practice.

ANUSARA YOGA LEVEL 2-3 PRACTICE
Poses from Anusara’s level 1, 2 and 3 syllabus are practiced. Students must be a regular level 2 student and be able to kick up into handstand at the wall and press up into a backbend without assistance. In this class the teacher practices right along side the students giving basic instruction. The practice is physically demanding and as rewarding.

RESTORATIVE ANUSARA YOGA
Students explore a series of poses that are more passive in nature. Props support the body and gravity encourages opening. This class is suitable for everyone! It’s great for refueling, replenishing and relaxing.

ANUSARA YOGA AND MEDITATION
Yoga postures for supporting the seated posture will be the focus of the asana practice. Meditation will be practice formally with time for journaling and discussion.
